Why is the church called Anthem?

Anthem

An anthem is a song that makes a community out of individuals, calls a crowd to a higher purpose, and defines who they are.

An anthem is a song that makes a community out of individuals, calls a crowd to a higher purpose, and defines who they are.

We have found this to be true about Jesus. It’s His message of love that brings us together, gives us a purpose worth living for, and essentially defines both who we are and what we’re about.

That's not to say we've arrived - in fact, far from it - but that's at least the direction we're heading - and we want to bring some friends with us on the journey. After all, an anthem isn't meant to be sung alone. Wherever you are on your spiritual quest, if any of this intrigues you, we would love to have you join us for the ride.

We’ve summed up our community’s mission this way:

We are here to awaken every[one]
around us to the life God has for us.

No matter what your background or previous experience with church may have been, if any, we hope that with Anthem you will experience the unconditional love and freedom that comes from knowing God and being known in honest relationships.

The bottom line is this: Life can be hard. But the more we anchor our lives in the teachings of Jesus, the more we’ll experience the life God has for us.

So - join us on the journey.

Join the song. Join the Anthem.

Meet our Leaders

“We know that a lot of people are disillusioned with and disinterested in Church. We’ve been there too. But we also believe that the Church is intended to be the vehicle that God uses to help us experience His love and impact the world. We believe that God wants us all to know and experience who he really is - Real. Powerful. Good.”

Pastors

Colin and Liz met in the nineties while working at a youth group in southeast England. They have since been serving alongside each other in local churches in the UK and US for the past 26 years. Having made the move across the pond in 1998, they've made their home in Detroit, Pittsburgh and have since have planted roots here in the Boston area. New England is well and truly home and starting and leading Anthem Church is the fulfillment of a dream they've had for many years. They live in Bedford and have three perfect children (yeah, right) aged 22, 20 and 18. Colin holds a master's degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, and Liz has an MA in Organizational Leadership from Biola University. Outside of family life, they're big fans of Indian food, British chocolate, their backyard chickens and a cavapoo named Cooper.
